My name is Donnovan, but I usually go around the internet calling myself Dimitri.
I’m an independent game developer, an artist, occasionally a writer, and an aspiring voice actor. I can play a single musical instrument, and that is the ocarina.
As a programmer I’ve primarily worked in Lua since mid 2016, but I also have limited experience programming in a variety of other languages such as Bash, Python, Java, JavaScript, and C. In 2022 I created my own extensible superset of Lua by the name of Luxtre (but it could still use some work). I’ve been told I should try Racket, but lisps frighten me.
At the time of writing I’m focusing on creating games for the Playdate, but my other engine of choice is Love2D owing to my love of doing things in the hardest way possible.
I created this website 90% by hand using a text preprocessor and website generation library I wrote by hand in pure Lua, with a little outside help from Pandoc and Linux’s built-in cli utilities. The font you see is sampled from my own handwriting. I rather enjoy creating my own tools in this way.
My many hobbies include such favorites as playing medieval-era historical games, reading a frankly excessive amount of webfiction, and not updating this website.
